Second Final Piece
I decided for my second final piece, I would develop my emulation further to make it into a book cover as I thought it would look really good.
I altered the background colour to a light green and changed the lino print to white because I thought this looked quite effective. I also added institutional information like the barcode.
I then started to add relevant graphics to the back of my design so bot the front and back linked.
I then added things like the blurb and an image of the author so it started to really look like a book cover.
Here is my second final piece finished.

Final Piece
I decided to use this draft for my first final piece because I thought it was the most effective and quite poetic.
After drawing out my deign on the lino, I start to cut it out using the lino cutters.
After cutting the lino out for the front and back, I painted it in ink and printed the design.
I scanned my prints into photoshop and adjusted the threshold so the scans were purely black and white. I made a book sleeve template in Photoshop and started to place the images in the correct place.
I then altered the colour of my image to blue as I felt that it fitted best with the mood I wanted to create in my design as blue is often linked with sadness.
I started to add text to my design such as the title. I added white boxes to put behind the text for ease of reading.
I added boxes and text to the spine, front back and flaps.
I rubbed out the edges of my boxes to create the illusion that I had cut them out with linocutters.
I added all the information needed such as barcodes and prices.
Here is my final piece completed.

Colour Choices
I really liked this colour choice because it is subtle and quite pleasing to look at. By including some black within my design it broke the colours a little bit and didn't make it look to much.
I really like this colour choice because although only one colour has been used, it is still quite interesting and pleasing to look at. To improve this colour choice I would probably make the pink less bright as it can sometimes look too much.
I didn't like this colour choice.Friday, 3 April 2015
