Conventions of the Form- Book Cover
I decided to use Candyfloss by Jaqueline Wilson to label my conventions because I noticed that it included all the conventions of the form whereas some book cover designs don't. My reasons for choosing this book is because Floss and her dad have a lot of flaws.

Brainstorming
Perfection, Flaws, Ideals and Compromises Brainstorm
I really liked this theme because I felt that there was a lot of ideas that I could choose. Some of the ideas I thought of was make-up packaging, magazine cover or a book cover. I finally decided on designing a book cover because I felt that I would enjoy designing one of these the most.
Book Covers Brainstorm
The Perks of Being a Wallflower Brainstorm (Chosen Book)
My reasons behind choosing this book cover is because I felt that there was so much relevance to the theme. There is mental illness, sexual abuse, drug use and domestic violence.

Brief
The theme for the exam is: Perfection, Flaws Ideals and Compromises. I decided to redesign The Perks of Being a Wallflower for my final piece, this is a novel written by Stephen Chbosky. This is because I think the book fits perfectly with this theme as it covers a range of topics such as: drug use, mental illness, homosexuality, sexual abuse and violence. The main character Charlie starts high school and tries his hardest to be normal but realises he has many flaws, it is set in a diary entry form so gives a personal view. I will re-read the book so I can get lots of ideas for my final design. Due to there being a wide range of topics within the novel, I feel that everyone can relate in some way.
I am going to design 2 book covers: one will be a more pragmatic design using the title for ideas, mainly focusing on the noun 'Wallflower' and the other design is going to be a more poetic and oblique design. I want my book covers to have a lot of relevance to the story so it isn't too much of a mystery what goes on in the book. I hope to make my book cover interesting and different so that it is eye-catching for the reader and ticks all the criteria.
